Mia Salinas is a 16-year-old high school junior with a deep passion for politics and a strong drive to make her voice heard. As the founder of Policy With A Punch, she brings years of personal experience in political journaling, along with a commitment to fostering meaningful, youth-led political discourse. Mia is an active member of her school’s speech and debate team, competes in track and field, goes to art school, and aspires to become a lawyer. Her love for critical thinking, advocacy, and impactful writing fuels everything she does, whether it be on and off the page. A fun fact about Mia is that she LOVES cats!

Hello everyone, my name is Maegen! I’m 16 years old and I am thrilled to be a part of policywithapunch. I’m deeply passionate about medicine and I hope to combine that interest with politics as a writer. Outside of school I’m a big reader who also loves to draw and do crafts, as well as read comics and do puzzles. I’m very excited about this opportunity, and I can’t wait to grow as a writer and help people become more aware about how politics shape our lives and country!

Fun Fact: I have a rare skin condition that causes blotches of my skin to lose its color, resulting in a light pale look.

Hi, I’m Nygel Dior Baker!

I’m 17 years old and from South Central Los Angeles. As I get ready to start my senior year in high school, I’m focused on building a future in journalism and education. I’m passionate about using my voice to share stories that matter.

I’m proud of my African-American heritage and my Creole roots from Louisiana. Beyond academics, I’m also a basketball player and love spending time with my friends. I’m always looking for new opportunities to learn, grow, and make an impact on the world around me.

Hello, my name is Pablo Escobar, and I am a 16 year old writer for PolicyWithAPunch! You did not misread that name, I do share my name with an interesting character from Colombia. However, when you read my writing, I hope you will look past my intriguing name and really see that my writing comes from a place of passion and concern for our modern society and world. I am a junior from Kennedy High School in the San Fernando Valley in the greater Los Angeles area and I am a fan of all kinds of music, sports, and movies. I would spend hours watching documentaries and crash course videos on different topics, and now through policy with a punch, I can contribute to what history teaches too! I’m Cierra, a 16-year-old Afro-Mexican writer and film student. I love telling stories that mix my cultural roots with everything I’m learning about film and writing.
